Happy September!

 Hi Everyone,

Happy September and for us here in the Southern Hemisphere, happy Spring! Spring is probably my favourite season despite the hayfever... Anyone else suffering as well?

If you follow me on facebook, you may have seen I've started a business selling my crafty products - so from my cards & notebooks, to beanies, tote bags and scrunchies and more! My new business is called Polkadot Designs Australia and you can find me on facebook and soon on etsy.

Here's some photos of what to expect:

All this doesn't make any changes to my stamping business, I'm still a Stampin' Up! demonstrator and I'm still teaching my classes. I love how I can change and adapt my Stampin' Up! business to suit what else is happening in the world and my work/personal life.

Speaking of Stampin' Up!, we are fast approaching the end of the SU year, and tomorrow there will be a 24 hour sale!! I have uploaded the flyer here. If you would like to place an order, please call me or better yet, order online and have your order delivered direct to you!

Please contact me if you have any queries via facebook or email.

Class details for Oct - December will be released soon! Keep an eye out for the bonus Christmas classes!

Take care,

Richelle

Making men's cards

Hi Everyone,

Two days ago I was working through my stash of cards and realised I am severely lacking in my stash of men's cards! Who else is with me on not making enough cards for the blokes!!

With this in mind, I made 3 new ccards last night from 2 sheets of 6x6" paper.

The sentiments are from the Well Said stamp set and the Well Written Framelits but unfortunately the Country Club designer series paper is no longer available (I was just using up a random 6" piece I still had).

Do you want know a handy tip to apply adhesive to a word or other delicate die? Add your adhesive with a sponge! So, if you squirt a little glue onto a scrap of card, dip your sponge in, and dab the glue to the back of your die cut piece! It's a litte messy but the benefit of no blobby bits of glue on the front it worth it! :)

And did you notice the die cut Birthday is a little patchy? Well, I confess, I got ink where I didn't want it... BUT rather than throw it away, I added more ink with the happy & birthday word stamps and made my mistake an added feature of the card! Looks good right!?

A card with a difference!

Hi everyone,

I realised I haven't shared this card with you all and I really like it as it's such a different layout.

Inspired by the Just Add Ink challenge #507, I created this bold, bright card.

I added a little ribbon from my stash and rhinestones for a little bling.

I think I'll have to try a few more cards with this layout!!

Take care & stay safe!

Richelle

Technique Flashback!

Hi Everyone,

I was having a play in my craftroom and I had a flashback to an old favourite technique, Rock & Roll - who remembers this?

You ink your image entirely with 1 light ink and then roll the edges of the same stamp around on a darker ink... The result equals a 2 toned image with minimal effect!

Go on, give it a try, it's easier than you think! Just make sure you clean your stamp before trying a 2nd time!

Social Stamping with Kelly - New / Normal

Image may contain: text

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to my part of the Social Stamping with Kelly (click here for the main list). Whether you are just starting out on the hop or you have arrived from Mandy's blog, welcome!!

I hope you are staying safe and well! We are so lucky that are we in phase 3 of restrictions easing here in Western Australia. It means we are able to get out and about again almost back to normal, (but still with social distancing rules) and many small businesses are able to reopen!

This week's theme is new/normal so I rolled with something we have all been doing lately and that's rest and relax! Well, I'm squeezing that in around a whole heap of house renovations and repainting!

So here's part of my process for today's card:

The rough idea... But I'm not 100% happy it's enough... So I thought about using an embossing folder to add some texture or to try something different...

Rough Idea....

I went with something completely different and used a sponge brayer to make my own background with some balmy blue and night of navy ink.
The Final Result!

What do you think? I'm trying to challenge myself and actually use some different techniques and supplies I have in my craftroom!

Next up is Monique, I'm sure you will love what she's created!!

Social Stamping with Kelly - Family

Image may contain: text

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to this week's Social Stamping with Kelly Blog Host... If you are following all the links around, you will have just come from Catherine's blog, if you are just starting, settle in somewhere comfy, there's a fair bit of inspiration coming your way with 20 of us joining this week's social stamping.

This week's theme is family and I thought I would create a scrapbook page to share with you of my family.

I admit, I'm not a big scrapbooker, despite having plenty of supplies, I have this crazy mindset that a 12" project is too hard! Anyway, in an effort to break free, I have broken down a 12" page to something smaller and then built it back up to a full 12". The photos should explain better...

Start simple - photo, 1 layer, ribbon scrap and a 12" base

Added a layer of navy card

Added a white layer

Found a felted vellum layer to add a little more impact and changed the base to navy

And the finished result!
I added the title by cutting it with my scan n cut. Once I worked out the cutting settings, it worked well!! The border is simply ruled with a white gel pen (tip if you cross the corners, you don't need to stress over the measurements too much!)

Have fun looking around at everyone's blogs today. Next on the list is Mandy.

No photo description available.

I hope you have a chance to get crafty this weekend. I've requested a day of uninterrupted time in my craftroom for Mother's Day here in Australia tomorrow - I wonder what chance I've got of that happening!?!?

If you want to look around in sections, work from the master list on Kelly's blog.

Take care,
Richelle

Happy anniversary

Hi Everyone,

Even before the covid 19 pandemic, I had planned to take some annual leave in April. It tied in nicely with school holidays and also our wedding anniversary (and we had been planning to go away for a few nights!). Well, seeing as we couldn't go away, I have been flat out busy painting bedrooms, ripping up carpet etc etc. It's been a hive of activity!!

This is the card I made for hubby, cased from Brian King. I really like the clean and simple lines and tropical colours of Brian's card!

I was happy with the couple of changes I made and pleased how easily the card came together. Here's some of the products I have used, if you have any queries, please contact me.

Stripey cards

Hi Everyone,

I am loving spending some extra time in my craft room and trying a few new things! To follow on from the stripey technique I did last week, I went for a little more balance and even strips to make these cards.

I believe I saw a layout similar to this on Kylie Bertucci's blog, but do you think I can find it again to link it for you? Nope! I knew I should have taken a screenshot!

The strips are all 1cm wide, you adhere each one to a base piece of card... Trim off the overhanging edges and layer up onto your card. I kept the sentiment simple and bold.

Social Stamping with Kelly #4

Image may contain: text

Hi Everyone,

This week's Social Stamping With Kelly has a theme of friends.

Truth be told, I was going to use these notecards for my class last night but seeing as we can't catch up in person, sharing these photos will have to do. I also shared a little video with a really rough outline of what I did.

The main products used are listed below:

The full list of particpants of the blog host can be found on Kelly's Blog, however, next in line is Shannon.

Stay safe and I hope you can use this time for crafting and relaxing (and if you are like me, I'm about to embark on some home renovations).

Take care,
Richelle
